Support Your Fellow Independents

Tuesday, June 12 | noon | The Plaza | Santa Fe, NM

Three independent radio stations in Santa Fe — Indie 101.5, Blu 102.9, and KBAC — are in danger of being purchased by an out-of-state corporation.

Chuck D of Public Enemy will be leading a rally in support of independent media at the Santa Fe Plaza at noon on Tuesday, June 12.

If you can't make it to the rally, Keep Indie Alive is has posted a PDF a form letter with contacts on the second page.

June 7000 BC Meeting

Working to get back on our regular schedule, we're meeting on Sunday, June 10 in Santa Fe. We'll start off at Backroads Pizza (807 2nd St # 1) up on the second floor (just follow the counter around to the stairs). Around 2–3:00, we'll move over to Second Street Brewery. We'll be working on jam throughout the afternoon and making any last-minute plans for the upcoming workshops.

True Believers Annual Birthday Bash

True Believers is four years old and is celebrating on Sunday, June 3. DJ Rocque Ranaldi of Indie 101.5's Independent Get Down will be spinning, and there will be an art contest, free sutff, and prizes.

Special guest Ryan Claytor will be stopping by from San Diego as a part of his national tour to sign his autobiographical comics from noon until 3:00.

Strip: Undressing Comics

N4th Gallery in VSA North Fourth Art Center has joined with 7000 BC to present Strip: Undressing Comics, an exhibition that exposes the process of making sequential art. The exhibit provides a unique look into the processes and products involved in comics creation. Fourteen creators from 7000 BC showcase nineteen projects, demonstrating a wide range of work across a variety of media and subject matter. The show documents the stages of taking an initial idea to finished product, from scribbled thumbnails to email exchanges, from photo reference to printed book.

In conjunction with the show, 7000 BC will be conducting two day-long workshops, open to the public ages 15 and up, that will guide participants in making their own comics.

Strip: Undressing Comics is sponsored in part by The Art Center Design College.
