Open House at New Mexico Art League

Open House at New Mexico Art League | Friday, August 29 | 6:00-9:00 PM | 3407 Juan Tabo NE | Albuquerque, NM

The New Mexico Art League will hold an open house Friday, August 29 from 6:00-9:00 in the evening at its facility on 3407 Juan Tabo NE in Albuquerque.

Student artwork will be shown and information about upcoming classes will be available — including details about Creating Comics, to be taught by 7000 BC starting in October.

Jamie Chase Artist Reception

Deloney Newkirk Galleries will have its artist reception for Fusion, new abstract figurative paintings by Jamie Chase, at its gallery at 699 Canyon Road on Friday evening. The show runs through September 12.

40 Rats Illustration

At Bubonicon this past weekend, 7000 BC created an illustration of 40 rats in honor of the sci-fi convention's 40th year and its mascot, Perry the rat. (Click for larger.)

Artists from the group starting on the drawing Saturday morning, raffle tickets were sold all day and into the next, the drawing was held Sunday afternoon — and the lucky winner had himself drawn in as the 40th rat. Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales went to Bubonicon's charities.

Thanks to everyone who bought tickets — it was a huge success and great fun, and we plan to do it again next year.

7000 BC at Bubonicon 40

Bubonicon 40, the New Mexico Science Fiction Convention | August 22-24, 2008 | Friday 3:30-8:30; Saturday 10:00-7:00; Sunday 10:00-4:00 | The Albuquerque Grand Airport Hotel | Albuquerque, NM

Once again, 7000 BC will be in the dealers room at Bubonicon, along with group member Jamie Chase, with an assortment of comics, art, and prints.

This annual event is one of the premier gatherings of science fiction writers, artists, and fans. This year's guest of honor is David Weber, the toastmaster is Daniel Abraham, and the guest artist is Bob Egggleton.

Our friends Robert Stikmanz, Darla Hallmark, and Hadrosaur Productions will also be back in the dealer room

August 7000 BC Meeting

Sunday, August 10 | 1:00 | Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and Second Street Brewery | Santa Fe, NM

For August, we'll meet on the 10th around 1:00 at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture on Museum Hill at the Comic Art Indigène exhibit. We'll probably be there about an hour, and then head over to Second Street Brewery for business and the jam.

Remember, all New Mexico museums are free to state residents on Sunday.
